Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
on Saturday, September 08, 2018, we will be the hosting the sixth time a Long Night of Religions in Berlin. I am delighted to invite you cordially, in the name of the Planning Committee, to actively take part in this coming Long Night of Religions.
The religious diversity is a great pool of richness for Berlin. There are people of very different religious, cultural and hereditary backgrounds who live together here in this city peacefully: Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Sikhs, Bahai, Hindus, and many other believers (faithful) are working together in a number of social and cultural projects with the aim of nursing the good atmosphere to stay like this also in the future.
The Long Night of Religions invites Berliners to get to know the different religions in our city and to gain themselves an impression of how religions are live and practice what they teach. In the center of the LNoR stands not one’s own religion and its furthering but the desire to put on record the peaceful togetherness of all.
We would like to encourage and invite you and your congregation to join us during the Long Night of Religions on September 8, 2018 and open the doors of your holy places in order to invite visitors in, so they will be able to get to know something about your faith; possibly through talks, concerts, exhibits and the like.
What is it that you have to do so that your congregation may be part of the LNoR?
Please fill in the digital application form.
Having done this the form will be your registration. It contains the invitation – information for this event. Your application will then be included in the printed program booklet, plus on the internet page. The last date for applying and for the end of editorial check-ups of the program booklet will be January 15, 2017. Please let us know if you need help and have any questions.
It would be good if you could already now reserve some time for the joint opening of LNoR (the White Table of Religions) on September 8, from 1 pm to 2 pm on the beautiful plaza Gendarmenmarkt. You will receive in good time more information about this joyful public happening with all of the involved organizations.
Every Religion, spiritual group, congregation, inter religious congregation and religious institution that has a working branch in Berlin is invited to take part in the LNoR.
Also, we think it would be particularly wonderful if there would be different groups to plan a LNoR together at the same place. May be you would like to get together with a neighboring congregation and organize a program together?
The planning committee of the LNoR has been very grateful for very interesting meetings and conversations with many different visitors during the LNoR. We would like to again put down a visible mark showing the religious diversity and how all of us work for peace and tolerance in Berlin. Therefore, we are looking forward very much to receiving your application.
If you have any question, please, contact us.
Very sincerely yours,
Thomas M. Schimmel
